Description

Autograph letter signed, dated “Paris Jan 2 – 62” by the American visual artist who made a significant contribution to the Dada and Surrealist movements. While the peace of his apartment in Paris is troubled by road works that make work impossible, the artist stayed at Alice Bellony’s apartment along with his wife Juliet Browner, who was recovering from an operation. Ray replies to Bellony referring to certain personal affairs: “Received your request for the insurance papers and looked all over, finding only the enclosed duplicate – no livret – perhaps it’s in your car? (…) Everything O.K. here. We are recovering from holiday celebrations – Xmas at Max Ernst and New Year in Paris…”. Alice Bellony, art model and wife to the art critic John Rewald, moved from New York to France and befriended several artists. 1 p. In fine condition.
